Born to be an island girl
I’m Jaqui, 30 years old, originally from a small town near Munich. I always knew that one day I would venture far beyond the borders of that town. At 16, I discovered my passion for travel, and since then, the world hasn’t let me go.
Alongside my love for adventure, I work as Head of Marketing for a sports startup in Germany. Entrepreneurship has always been a part of me — I’ve worked as a founder, spent over eight years freelancing in marketing, and also gained experience as a startup coach. When I’m not off exploring the world or deep in work, you’ll find me outside — either taking photos, at a spinning class, or running.
Capturing the world through my lens is my true passion. Whether with my camera, smartphone, GoPro, or drone — I love telling stories from different perspectives. I’m also someone who constantly wants to learn new things. Web development, automation, technical challenges — I take them on, dive in, and master them on my own.
My Story
Life hasn’t always been easy. When my parents divorced, I was still young, and I never had a close relationship with my mother. Eventually, I lost contact with her. My father, an entrepreneur, was rarely home, so I had to find my own way early on. I worked hard to fund my dreams and gain the independence I always longed for.
Despite my adventurous spirit and energy, there were tough times. Eight years ago, I wanted to start this travel blog, but I found myself in a toxic relationship. Toxic relationships aren’t always obviously harmful, and that’s what makes them so hard to leave. When everything seems perfect, it’s easy to miss the signs that someone can’t give you what you really need. I lost myself — my trust, my fire. And when it turned physically violent, we both knew it had to end.
That time left deep scars. For years, I put this dream of a blog aside, afraid I wasn’t good enough. But deep down, I always knew I had a story to tell. I always wanted to inspire others, but very few people truly know me. It’s hard for me to let new people in. But one thing was always clear: my passion for travel and storytelling never faded.
I’ve lived in London and Singapore — two cities that taught me a lot about adaptability and openness. I’m very spontaneous. If I had to move to Singapore tomorrow, I would do it and start fresh. Reinventing myself in unfamiliar places has never been a problem for me.

Travel has taught me more than I ever expected. It has helped me heal wounds, expand my horizons, and sometimes feel incredibly alone. But most of all, I’ve learned this: the world is not defined by the beliefs we grow up with, but by the experiences we choose to seek.
I strongly believe in self-empowerment and the courage to follow your dreams, even when doubts arise. The greatest lesson I’ve learned? At the end of the day, I only have to answer to myself. And I’ve realized that opportunities don’t just come to us – we have to create them. Success often means taking risks, making bold moves, and following your own path.
